I had a blast making this Pinterest inspired chair.

I was at home visiting my mom and the GCOM store in Six Lakes, when I was shown this idea of making a seat out of belts on a chair. It looked pretty cool, but I didn't know the volunteers there were hoping I'd be the one to make it haha, but I'm glad I did because it was super fun and it turned out so cute. Anyway, they had picked out the perfect antique chair for the project. The leg was a little chewed up so I sanded it, mostly smooth, and re-stained that part of the leg. I then picked out all the belts to go across the chair. I found the easiest way was setting them all on a table, weaving them together, then placing them on the chair.

As you can see in the photos, I used a taller table and laid the belts upside down across the table. That way, I could place the chair on top and bring the ends of the belts over the chairs bottom.

After placing the chair on top, I pulled each belt over the bottom and marked where to drill a hole with a permanent marker. This took a little while. After all, I think I used 23 belts total.

When all the marks were made I drilled the holes all around the chair.

With the holes drilled, I took a inch and a half screw and a finish washer, pulled a belt over the edge and screwed the screw through it.

All in all, this really didn't take as long as I thought it would. Once you get going it's fairly simple. You just want to make sure each belt is pulled as tightly as possible.

Once all the belts were fastened on, I flipped the chair on its legs. That's why you see all the belts hanging in the last photo. We cut the ends of the belts, but some of the belts I used could easily unweave. To keep that from happening, we taped the ends temporarily.

When I brought the chair home I ended up sealing the ends with super glue and hot glue. That was an interesting time. One of the belts I put super glue on started smoking... I eventually got them all sealed. Some had more material than others to seal and some I accidentally cut short. In the end, it all worked out once I got passed the belts smoking and gluing my fingers together with super glue.

Now the chair sits next to my cute table I found at GCOM as well. When I bought the table, I didn't like the shiny legs. I added some pictures to show the sanding and refinishing of that too. It was definitely a project week for me! I could get used to that.

After my fun little projects, I found some good light in the evening and photographed my projects and home decor. It's been fun to decorate my own home since get married. Having space to hang up art and grow plants. It's the best! So, here's my little styling session with my new chair and table, plus some shots of my valentines day flowers <3
